Our Solution

We feel safety on the roads is every citizen's responsibility in a country. Majority of the people witness accidents and sometimes get hurt due to accidents  too, but  a few stop to think of solutions. We feel this everyday problem can be curbed by implementing the given solutions.

Welcome!

Road safety in India does not meet the world standard. We travel to school everyday and many a times witness road accidents due to lack of implementation of the laws by law enforcement authorities themselves and the people. We also read newspaper headlines stating gory, unfortunate accidents showing equally horrifying pictures. This lack of concern for one's safety was what led us to choose this topic.

The Roads We Saw

By Ilina Moitra

On the roads what we saw,

Was people breaking almost every traffic law.
People overspeeding without any thought,
Grumbling and reluctantly paying a fine when caught.
Using mobile phones while riding or driving,
When caught making quick payoffs – practicing and encouraging bribing.
Drinking at night and then hitting the street,
Sadly, then having an accident to meet.
Not wearing helmets thinking it counts as “cool”,
To top it all, breaking every other traffic rule.
Not understanding the value of one’s own life,
Not realizing the plight of a parent, child, husband or wife.
Not giving a thought to the possible consequences at all,
So, we think it’s time to take a call.
We urge you to follow the rules and ask others to follow them too,
This is in the best interest of others and you.
If one follows, others gradually will,
And then in our country road accidents will never kill.
Never again will be there those scary newspaper headlines,
Never those pictures haunting many minds.
This is an initiative on our part,
Just a small little start.
This can be carried forward by you, YOU can tell everyone,
And then there will be accidents NONE.
This is our hope, this is our plan,
And we believe, together we the citizens of the country by taking small steps can bring about this change, WE CAN.

The United Nations General Assembly has proclaimed the period 2011-2020 as the Decade of Action for Road Safety, “with a goal to stabilize and then reduce the forecast level of road traffic fatalities around the world by increasing activities conducted at the national, regional and global levels”.
